ABOUT US

The first meeting for the Greater Cincinnati Chapter was held in November 1972 with a Charter granted in March 1973.  The first President was Colonel James Walsh and first Secretary was Colonel Ned Ackner.

MOAA is open to all Active, Reserve, Guard, Retired and Former officers of the uniformed services of the United States as well as spouses of deceased officers.  Our local membership is 320 members and 45 auxiliary members (widows of deceased officers).  We draw from the Cincinnati metro area with about 30 per cent residing in Kentucky and a few in Indiana.  Attendance at our luncheons ranges from 40 to 80 depending on a variety of factors - even, I sometimes think, the phase of the moon!

The purposes of our chapter are:

        (a) To promote the purposes and objectives of the Military Officers Association of America
        (b) To foster fraternal relations among retired, active and former officers of the uniformed services
        (c) To protect the rights and interests of personnel of the uniformed services and their dependants and survivors
        (d) To provide useful services for members and their dependants and survivors
        (e) To serve the community and the nation
