Our next membership meeting will be on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:30 at Clovernook Country Club. Come celebrate the Army’s 249th birthday and participate in a rousing and true story of the Cold War told by people who were on the front lines of the Reforger NATO exercise that almost triggered a nuclear war. LTC (Ret) Paul Fellinger and Col (Ret) Neil Ray were participants in the Able Archer 83 exercise; Patti and Katie Fellinger will tell their interesting first-hand experiences that occurred during that exercise. The story of the NATO training exercise started with Autumn Forge 83, in September 1983, and culminated with Able Archer 83 in November. The US and its allies had no intention of launching a preemptive nuclear attack, but the Soviet intelligence assessment thought differently.
